Frisco Kid's raw deal

AS REPORTED ON the cover of the Saturday STAR, a no-order submission freed popular entertainer, Frisco Kid, from a carnal abuse case brought against him in 2004.

The deliberation came when the 15-year-old accuser admitted in court that she had lied about the relationship. However, the judge slapped charges of creating public mischief on the child, as she had allegedly misled the court regarding a relationship with the entertainer.

The case had been repeatedly delayed due to prosecution's difficulty to find the girl, and when she finally arrived, she dropped a proverbial bomb, stating that she had lied.

Although Frisco (real name Steve Ray) is now free, there has been irreversible damage to his reputation, and as artistes are public figures; his career has been tainted.

Since his reputation is an essential part of his career, it should be interesting what he does from here especially since he recently converted to Rastafarianism and decided to start doing more conscious lyrics. It should also be interesting to see how he will react from here on. As, whether or not he has been freed from the court of justice, it will be some time before the court of the public will free his reputation.
