Independence City, Waterford crash out in semis

PORTMORE TEAMS INDEPEN-DENCE City Primary and Waterford Primary crashed out of the INSPORTS St. Catherine Primary Football League at the semi-final stage after going down to Spanish Town and Old Harbour Bay, respectively at the G.C. Foster playing field on Wednesday.

Independence City lost to defending champions Spanish Town 3-1 after putting up a spirited second half performance but being unable to find find the goals.

Spanish Town struck early with the league's leading scorer Romario Constant hitting two goals in four minutes to push his tally to 23 goals for the season and placed 'City' on the back foot. However, Independence City pulled one back in the 26th minute when Odane Ricketts netted a right-sided cross from Damarnee Williams.

However, Spanish Town's two-goal advantage was later restored when Independence City goalkeeper Kemar Francis misjudged a shot from Jamie Hall.

In the other semi-final, Old Harbour Bay edged Waterford 1-0 to set up a meeting with the defending champions.

Braeton Junior High kept the Portmore's name alive in the U-15 league blanking Tredegar Park 3-0 to set up a final clash with White Marl.
