A ST. JAMES man before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court charged with wounding with intent, was remanded on Wednesday.
Eric Winter, before court on cocaine charges, is maintaining his innocence. He returns to court February 22.
The complainant alleges that about noon on January 12, he was at his handcart selling on Barnett Street when he was approached by Winter who demanded money owed him.
The complainant, who owed the accused $335, paid him $300 and said that was all he had. He then proceeded to tend to a customer when he felt a stab in his side.
He turned around to see Winter with two knives that he used to cut at his neck. The complainant's father along with another person restrained and disarmed Winter who fled. The injured man was then rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was admitted for two days.
The complainant further alleges that Winter returned on January 21 and threatened to kill him. As a result, he reported the matter to the police. The accused was pointed out on January 24 when he attended court for another matter.
