Since their inaugural flight from Kingston to Fort Lauderdale, Spirit Airlines has been receiving a warm reception in Jamaica.
The company attracted the attention of Jamaicans in November last year, when they entered the airline industry with competitively priced flights to Fort Lauderdale from Montego Bay and Kingston. Rebecca Rivera, communications manager at Spirit Airlines told THE STAR: "We've received a very warm reception in Jamaica. People have been very responsive to our low fares, new planes and reliable service."
The airline has offered three daily non-stop flights to Fort Lauderdale since November 10, 2005, and according to Rivera, they came to Jamaica, because "Spirit flies where there's demand. We began daily non-stop service to Montego Bay and Kingston from Fort Lauderdale on November 10. We also began non-stop service from Orlando to Montego Bay on November 10. That's three daily non-stop flights to Jamaica since November 10."
She also told THE STAR that the airline was looking to further expand its reach as they are "continually assessing opportunities to fly to new destinations." And though the airline's basic flights are from Kingston and Montego Bay to Fort Lauderdale, they also provide convenient connections to other major cities such as Atlanta, Orlando, Detroit and New York.
