Even though the TVJ Schools' Challenge Quiz match between Knox College and Bishop Gibson High was close in the first segments, it was not very exciting. Knox College managed to emerge victors on 28 points while Bishop Gibson trailed behind on 19 points.
Knox won the toss and decided to send Bishop Gibson first. The first section was poorly played by both teams and the ended with Knox on five points and Bishop Gibson on three.
In the second segment, both teams picked up the pace and began firing responses to the questions posed. Bishop Gibson made a commendable comeback in this section and at the end of this segment were tied on 13 points with Knox.
The third section however, saw a dramatic change. Bishop Gibson was apparently trying to play it safe and buzzed in only three times during the entire section. And even though they answered all three questions, this still was not enough to make them winners. Knox College on the other hand, used this segment to cement their win, buzzing in a total of nine times and getting eight answers correct. At the end of the match, Knox stood on 28 points while Bishop Gibson had only garnered 19.
Bishop Gibson's captain, Deborah Murray was satisfied with her team's performance. She told THE STAR, "I think we did pretty well but more could have been done." Knox captain, Samantha Johnson, was disappointed in her team's performance but promised that they would come back better next time around. She said, "I think we did OK but I feel that there is a lot of room for improvement, and next time, we'll be better prepared."
