Seba upstage Harbour View

SEBA UNITED WILL take a one-goal advantage into their return Red Stripe Champions Cup game against Harbour View following their exciting 1-0 win over the red-hot premier league front-runner at Jarrett Park, Montego Bay, last night.

In a game in which they dominated but missed a spate of chances, especially through striker Wilfred Smith, the Seba United team got their all-important goal courtesy of a 74th minute strike by substitute Kemar James.

"We started the game today with three injured players because the squad has been badly hit by injuries in recent games so I am quite pleased with this result," said Seba United's coach Heron Grey. "All we need to do is to avoid defeat in the next game and I am confident that we can do that."

PLAYED POORLY

Harbour View, which look a shadow of the team that dominated the first two rounds of the premier league, left coach Donavan Hayles quite disappointed in their performance.

"We played poorly today and really did not deserve to win," said Hayles. "The good thing is that we will have a chance to make amends in the return game on our home ground."

In a first half Seba United got at least two excellent chances to take the lead through Smith. Firstly, he broke free behind the Harbour View defence and fired wide and secondly, with the goalkeeper at his mercy, he fumbled badly and lost possession.

Seba continued to dominate in the second half but poor finishing kept them off the scoresheet. They came perilously close to scoring in the 64th minute when a shot by Damion Williams struck the crossbar and rebounded into play.

On another attack in the 74th minute, James scored after latching onto a Norman Foster free-kick and sent a glancing header out of the reach of goalkeeper Leighton Murray, making the score 1-0.

With time running out in the game, Harbour View got their best chance in the 87th minute. On a break down the middle Richard West pounced on a rebound but his powerful shot sailed inches over the crossbar with goalkeeper Alrick Henry caught out of position.
