I can't forgive him

Dear Pastor,

I am a regular reader of your column. I have a problem with forgiving someone who hurt me. Can you tell me how I can forgive this person? He cheated on me and had a baby by another woman. It's on my mind all the time and I don't want to be bitter.

What should I do? I am so hurt.

Dear N.,

If you had cheated, would you want this man to forgive you? You may be quick to say that you wouldn't do that. I am not saying that you would, but if that had happened wouldn't you want to receive his forgiveness? If you find it difficult to forgive this man, leave him. Don't stick around and always have what he has done on your mind. You will never be happy if you refuse to forgive him. If you love him and he has stopped running around with others, both of you should go for counselling and learn to rebuild trust.
