A 44-YEAR-OLD WOMAN who is accused of burning a man with acid, is to return to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on February 2. Sharon Hudson pleaded not guilty to the charge of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm when she appeared before RM Martin Gayle on Friday.
The court heard that on April 18, 2005, an argument developed between the accused and the complainant. It is alleged that the accused removed the complainant's shirt from his bag and set it on fire when he demanded that it be returned. She is also accused of throwing away the complainant's phone. The complainant allegedly hit the accused, who drew an ice pick in return. This was taken from her and both went their separate ways.
It is reported however, that later that day, the accused hid behind a stall and waited for the complainant to pass by his way to work. It is reported that when he drew near, the accused threw the substance at him and said, "Tek dat bwoy." The complainant reported the attack to the police and Hudson was later arrested and charged.
