Ascot chases second netball crown

ASCOT PRIMARY WILL try to win their second INSPORT St. Catherine Netball League crown in three years on Monday, when they take on Rally Champion and favourites Friendship Primary at GC Foster College in a match that starts at 11:40 am.

Prior to the final, Spanish Town Primary and Ginger Ridge will play-off for third place at 11:00 a.m.

Ascot's route to the final was much tougher than Friendship as they needed extra time to defeat Kitson Town 15-11 in the quarter-final as both teams were locked at 11-11 after the end of regulation time. The Portmore side then dispatched Spanish Town 20-15, to reach the finals undefeated. Friendship is also unbeaten all season and it makes the final a possible mouth-watering affair.

Friendship's road to the final was fairly easy, swamping Victoria 22-1 before getting past Ginger Ridge 17-12 in the semi-finals.

Ascot became the first Portmore team to win the final during the 2003-2004 season when they defeated St. Jago Prep in the final. Naggo Head won the trophy last year.
