THE PORTMORE CITIZEN Advisory Council (PCAC) has a new chairperson. She is Yvonne McCormack, a businesswoman from Hellshire in the Municipality.
McCormack was elected at the first meeting of the PCAC for this year. The meeting was held at the Portmore Municipality Council office in the Portmore Pines Plaza on January 18.
REV SOARES LAUDED
McCormack replaces Reverend Barrington Soares, who held the position for the last two years. He was lauded for the services he rendered during the time he served.
After the meeting, several members said that the previous Chairman had served Portmore very well.
The newly-elected Chairperson told THE PORTMORE STAR that she will be doing her best for the people of the Municipality, during her tenure as Chairperson. The term of office is two years and is renewable on completion.
Mayor George Lee said that he welcomes the new Chairperson and hopes to work well with her. "I know that it is a challenging position but I have the confidence that I will work with her just like her predecessor," he told THE PORTMORE STAR.
The PCAC is mandated to check on any by-laws passed by the Portmore Municipal Council and to see to the general transition of such laws. Several professionals have also been elected on the PCAC's new board, which will be headed by McCormack.
