THE PORTMORE ROTARY Club honoured two of its business stalwarts, Adrian Genus and Lester Crooks, in the municipality, at a function held at the Jewels Resort, recently.
Genus, proprietor of Genus Pharmacy, was rewarded for his vocational attributes and pointed out to be a businessman who the club claims has been doing well for Portmore in terms of providing well-needed drugs for the past 20 years, and also providing financial assistance to several charitable organisations.
The award for good business ethics and sports went to businessman, Lester Crooks, commonly known as 'Ken', proprietor of the Ken's Wildflower Lounge in Bayside.
Many persons in and out of Portmore have come to know Crooks as an entertainment giant, one who funds cricket sponsorship, promotional boxing and domino as he keeps the social light of the municipality burning.
In an interview with THE PORTMORE STAR, Crooks said he was glad to be considered by the club and will continue to do what he does best, serving people. His sentiments were echoed by the other awardee, Mr. Adrian Genus.
President of the club, Pamela Bailey, said that it was the second time that the club was hosting the vocational award to persons and organisations who have given yeoman's service to the community, affecting the lifestyle of numerous residents in a positive way.
"We think effort should be rewarded, and giving the award to these two business giants, it is a meaningful gesture that we intend to carry on throughout the years to come," she told THE PORTMORE STAR. The function was well attended.
