TRAFFIC CAME TO a stand-still and was backed up for miles in both directions as residents of Eight Miles, Bull Bay, St. Andrew blocked the main road yesterday. The residents were protesting the fatal shooting of an unidentified man by the Special Anti-Crime Task Force.

According to Senior Super-intendent Donald Pusey head of SACT. "At about 11:30 a.m. my men were policing the Bull Bay area when they turned into Rasta Lane. They came up on a group of four men when one opened fire on the party. Fire was returned and he was hit and taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead".

The police reportedly took a Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol with an extended magazine and 28 rounds from the body. Three others were arrested. Richard Brown otherwise called 'Richie' was charged with shooting and a double murder committed in the east Kingston area. A juvenile was also charged with possession of a five 9mm rounds along with another man who is to go on an identification parade.

SSP Pusey also told THE STAR "we are going after these criminals anywhere they are, anywhere they go we are going for them. Good people must go about their business in a free way".

Residents who were in the area refused to comment.
