Buju Banton - FILE
THE EDITOR, Madam:
Deejay Buju Banton stood out head and shoulder over all the other acts at the Welcome To Jamrock show held at Cinema Two, New Kingston, St. Andrew, recently.
The deejay, whose real name is Mark Myrie, was professional in every department - singing, DJ, social commentary. During his set, he was in obvious unity with his band, back up singers - who did an excellent job - and the sound engineer.
Buju was easily the strongest act and was well received by the many people who flocked to the venue. He had the audience dancing to almost every song he did and had others singing along with ones they knew.
I understand the show was billed around Damion 'Junior Gong' Marley, whose latest album is entitled Welcome To Jamrock, but I don't think there are many acts that can work after Buju Banton. We need to give credit where it is due.
The show generally was great and all the acts did very well. Congratulations to the organisers and all the others involved in making it one of the best shows for this year.
I am, etc.,
