THE ONE THING that M.I.A. wasn't short of was men. Their female counterparts were, however, missing in action.
The Christmas eve party, held at the Constant Spring Golf Club, suffered from very early in the night, a case of too many men and of the many men who were there, most of them were 'youngsters'.
The party kicked off to a slow start as at 1:00 a.m. only a handful of people was there. Half of those people were outside, while the other half 'close marked' the walls of the dance room.
Despite the efforts of Coppershot, Firelinks, Bambino and Bloodline Discos, the night dragged on. While the DJs played a mixture of reggae, hip hop and cultural tunes, which would have enticed a sizeable crowd, six men did some juggling of their own.
Idle male hands found a golf ball which they promptly began to play with. Oblivious to the 'party', the men occupied their time with the ball around the pool deck, until the ball took a dive in the pool, ending the fun and games.
However, some on the inside made good use of the music. The bartenders and jerk chicken vendors danced to the rhythms while serving food and drinks.
The 'All you Can Drink' slogan obviously did not entice many persons as the patrons crept into the party. The men on the outside stayed there until very late in the night, when they eventually went in and added to the crowd.
Once inside, they lined the walls of the corridor, leaving the dance floor empty. Later on in the night, however, more females emerged, but not enough to even a ten to one ratio.
