Leftside and Esco - CONTRIBUTED
CONTRARY TO WHAT some may believe, Leftside and Esco say their songs are really intended to come across as comic relief, not to be taken personally or literally.
"Our music is like more fun, fi mek people laugh and put a smile on dem face, cause inna dem time yah, wi jus feel seh we haffi provide the 'stress reliever'... Dr. Evil, Tuk In Yuh Belly, our music a jus fun," Esco said.
Esco agrees, adding, "We do music that represents a lighter side, and when we put out wi music wi want it to be something that can take people mind of a di stress of life. We have to strike a balance; yuh can't talk too much about the bad, yuh haffi talk bout di lighter side of life as well."
As a matter of fact, Leftside says the Dr. Evil song was not something that was planned.
"Austin Powers a one of mi favourite movies, an one day wi deh a studio a do dub and one Black Chiney rhythm did a play (Kopa rhythm). Wi did a watch di movie same time an wi jus hold a vibe pon di rhythm," Leftside said.
Leftside and Esco promise more of the same in the years to come, so look out for more songs that will make you laugh.
