REGGAE ARTISTE, KEVIN 'Natty King' Herberts, 26, was arrested in Portland yesterday for possession of marijuana.
The singer along with Uriel 'Fire Lion' Phillips, 36, were arrested and charged by the Special Squad police.
The police say at 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning, while they were on a routine patrol along Harbour street in Port Antonio, the men were spotted in a rented motorcar, smoking at a Texaco service station.
ABOVE THE LAW
Upon approach, the police claim that they realised that the substance being smoked was marijuana, and accosted the men.
It was reported that the men 'put out' their 'spliffs,' but showed an attitude toward the officers, when they were being reprimanded.
"Sometimes I give people a chance with di weed ting, but they were behaving as if they were above the law, so they were arrested and charged," explained the police officer from the Port Maria Special Squad.
The artistes were given bail in the sum of $10,000 each and are booked to appear in the Port Antonio Resident Magistrate's Court on December 13, where their case will be tried.
Natty King, a resident of Bath, in St. Thomas rose to prominence after his song Guns To Town, topped local charts for several weeks.
