DOUBLE GIRLS' Championships gold medallist, Phelicia Reynolds, left the island on Sunday to take up a scholarship at the Louisiana Tech University.

The 19-year-old Reynolds, who won the shot put open (12.44m) and Class One discus (40.15m) titles, will pursue a degree in psychology.

The former St. Hugh's High student has represented Jamaica at Pan Am Junior Championships and several Carifta Games, dating back to 2002.

Reynolds, who left St. Jago High to attend sixth form at St. Hugh's, also represented her last school at Penn Relays in 2004 and 2005.
