Optimist Club assists needy twins with school books

BY BYRON MCDANIEL, STAR Writer

WALDERSTON, Manchester

FOLLOWING A PUBLICATION in THE STAR which highlighted the needs of twin brothers who attend the Mitzpah All-Age School in Manchester, the Optimist Club of Christiana has supplied the brothers with well-needed books.

Garett and Geron Stewart, 14, grade six students who live with their grandmother at Contrivance district near Walderston in the parish, got a pleasant surprise during morning worship at school on November 17.

President of the Optimist Club of Christiana, Eshaun Smith, and secretary of the club, Karen Bennett, presented them with school books and gave a pep talk to the entire school. They then informed the students of the club's intention to launch an essay competition.

The twin's mother resides in Kingston while their father is said to be somewhere in the U.S..

Principal Doreen Spence thanked the optimist club for their kindness. She also thanked THE STAR for highlighting their needs.
