LAST WEEK, THERE were two stories in which two teenagers were held with ammunition in two separate incidents.
In the first incident the teen was held with ammunition next to his scrotum while in the second case, the teenager was held with the bullet in his school tie.
It is interesting to note that these stories tie in with several reports about the most dangerous groups of gunmen being teenagers. So, it is not surprising that the teenagers were held with ammunition.
However, although the matter is no surprise, we cannot help but blame the homes from which these youngsters come.
All too often youngsters are left to grow themselves. In other cases, they are left in society's care or the guidance of area dons who mean them no good. Hence, the youngsters are left with no alternative but to choose a life of crime.
Strangely, on many occasions, the Government and several organisation have spoken about the need to fix the family setting as well as rescue children from a life of crime. But, to be frank, more is often said than done.
It is time that we all play our part in trying to rescue our nation's children from a life of crime. It is going to be a sad day when we find out that most of our youngsters have become criminals, leaving our country in chaos. And, based on how things are now, none of us want the situation to get any worse.
