Smith, Gordon top Alliance Investment Tennis

BRITANY SMITH OF Columbus Preparatory School and Javed Gordon of Mandeville Primary topped the 11 and under finals at the fifth staging of the Alliance Investment Management National Prep and Primary Schools Tennis Competition which ended last Thursday at the Eric Bell Tennis Centre.

Smith defeated Althea Dunkley of Siloah Primary 6-5 in the girls' final. Third place went to DeJhah Jones of Chetwood Primary who defeated Terriann Miles of Mandeville Primary.

In the boys 11 years and under competition Gordon of Mand-eville beat Gamar Virgin of Ardenne Preparatory 6-3. Romaine Ramjeet of St. James Prep School defeated Nicholas Chambers of Queen's Prepar-atory in the play-off for third and fourth places.

The competition, which is designed for students from preparatory and primary schools is open to players in the age group 8-11 years.

Matches were played on a regional basis in Kingston, Mandeville, Montego Bay and Ocho Rios.
