Clerk on fraud charge granted bail

A 28-YEAR-OLD WOMAN from St. Elizabeth who is accused of defrauding the hospital in Black River of more than $186,000 was offered bail in the sum of $200,000, with one or two sureties, after she pleaded not guilty in the Santa Cruz Resident Magistrate's court yesterday.

Tracy-Ann Myers, who was a clerk at the hospital, was arrested and charged by the police on Friday. It is alleged that between 2001 and 2002 the total sum of $186,500 was collected on behalf of the Southern Regional Health Authority but was never turned over.

As a condition of bail the accused is expected to report to the Mandeville Police Station every Wednesday and Saturday between the hours of 6:00a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

She is scheduled to return to the Santa Cruz R.M. court on January 23, 2006 when her case will again be mentioned.
