Vol 11:1 - C&W offers more speed for only US$2

BY LEROY MCLEAN, Contributor

MY CURRENT INTERNET speed is running at 128Kbps and this is the lowest speed from Cable and Wireless (C&W). While I am satisfied with the present price for the service, I don't mind a reduction in the charge. Since this dream will not happen during the course of this year, I am willing to settle for anything better.

It may seem that C&W is finally listening to the general public or just ready to increase their share of the broadband market prior to the competition next year. Whatever the reasons for their generosity, I know for sure that I will benefit from it.

NEW OFFER

There is a new offer for customers who have the 128K Lite package. They can increase their speed to 256K for US$2 more. This should double the current speed and you will only pay an additional US$24 for the next year.

You have until December 31 to sign up for this new offering and will be required to pay US$31.95 per month. New customers can enjoy the 256K service for US$31.95 instead of US$39.95 per month.

I went online to upgrade my service from 128K to 256K at the C&W website. Personally, I was hoping to get the service within 24 to 48 hours, but this was not the case. I am still waiting for the service while writing this article.

Secretly, I think C&W is offering this option to their 128K customers, because running at this speed with the NetSpeak is totally ridiculous.

Anyway, I have to go now, so I will talk with you next week. Christmas is just around the corner and I have a lot of research to do for you.
