IT WAS ALL about voguish Jamaican fashion and non stop vibes last Friday at Yaad Trendz, staged at Back Yaad, Constant Spring road, St. Andrew.
The patrons, though not large in number, enjoyed a seemingly well-co-ordinated fashion show that featured some top class outfits by local designers, with several red, green and gold pieces grasping the interest of the eyes.
The fashion show was timely and spicy and was well supported by performances from Monster Twins and T.O.K. The duo and quartet group ensured that the patrons enjoyed their $500 entry fee.
Monster Twins reached way back for the song that brought them into the limelight, Bag a Man talk, which the crowd loved dearly. They went on to do several other relatively new songs before making way for international recording group, T.O.K.
T.O.K.'s introduction was met with screams from the gathering of vibrant females inside Back Yaad. The group did a good set, unearthing songs like Chi Chi Man, Eagle's Cry on the bruck out riddim, Top a Tappa on the Diwali riddim and several others. Screams echoed around the venue as soon as they started Footprint, their latest hit.
'HARD-WINING BIG-BUMPER
The members of both groups hung around after their performances to ensure that the vibe in the venue continued to escalate. They rubbed shoulders with the patrons who seem to have enjoyed their presence.
At the rear of the venue, several patrons were getting on bad, especially a particular 'hard-wining big-bumper' female patron. Men were boosted to 'take on' her rhythmic gyrating. Some were mere failures, but then there were those who managed to get her onto a pool table and gyrated like crazy to the delight of the cheering crowd.
A member of Monster Twins was put to the task and was doing a great job until gravity got the better of him and the female dancer, and both of them collapsed unto the ground.
Musical mixing from Chromatic, which dropped several Sizzla, Beenie Man and Vybz Kartel favourites, and Code Red, which did some credible spinning, ensured that the patrons were pleased musically.
The party ended almost abruptly at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning by reason of a mass migration to the gate.
