A WOMAN AND two men who are charged with attempting to rob a taxi driver with a fake gun will be tried today at the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.
Andromeda Allen, 26, was granted bail of $100,000 with surety but the investigating officer objected to the other two accused, Kamal Ming, 20, and Kevin Malcolm, 24, being granted bail and so they were remanded in custody.
Allegations against the three are that on November 2, at 8:00 p.m., Allen and Ming chartered a taxi from the downtown Kingston area to Cross Roads, where they picked up Malcolm. Upon reaching a section of Marescaux Road, Malcolm allegedly asked the driver to stop.
A short, black and silver object resembling a gun was drawn and money and the keys to the vehicle were demanded.
The driver however refused to comply and allegedly wrestled the fake gun from the grip of one of the accused persons. Allen then beckoned to Malcolm for them to make their escape. The police were notified and the three were caught running along Marescaux Road and taken to the Cross Roads Police Station where they were arrested and charged.
