Family seeks whereabouts of missing woman

Twenty-three year old Marsha Whyte, standing with a friend, has been missing since November 5. - CONTRIBUTED

MARSHA WHYTE, 23, has been missing since November 5. According to her mother-in-law, Sylvine Campbell, Whyte left their Wareika Road home at about 12:00 p.m., to buy toilet paper and has not been seen or heard from since. Whyte's mother also has no idea where her daughter is. Campbell told THE STAR that the area had been a virtual ghost town because of the gun battles that were raging at the time. She said Whyte could well have been the only person on the road.

Whyte, a mother of two, was last seen by members of the community going onto Windward Road. She was wearing blue jeans, a white shirt and white sneakers. She is 5 feet 2 inches tall, of medium built, of dark brown complexion and wears her unprocessed hair in twists.

Sylvine Campbell said she is very worried. "Mi can't sleep ennuh, mi confuse. Everybody a walk up and down like dem tun fool," she said. What also adds to her worries is the fact that Whyte, who is originally from St. Mary, is not familiar with Kingston and hardly goes out.

The recent spate of abductions and kidnappings also has Campbell torn. "Mi jus nuh know, an dem a tek whe so much ooman an kill dem," she said.

APPEALING

Campbell is appealing for her daughter-in-law, if she is being held against her will. "Jus let her go mek shi cum back to her baby, cause everybody worried bout her and everbody love her," she said.

However, if Whyte left by choice, Campbell wants her to contact her family and let them know that she is fine.

Campbell told THE STAR that Whyte's three-year-old daughter asks for her mother every day.

Anyone who has seen Marsha Whyte or has any information that may help in the search, is being asked to contact the Rockfort Police Station at 922-2941/ 9304068 or her mother-in-law, Sylvine Campbell at 874-4293.
