Nurse's bail extended

THE TRIAL OF Janet Spence, the nurse charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice will continue in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on November 23.

Spence, 35, had her $300,000 bail extended when she appeared in court last week.

The charges were brought against Spence earlier this year after she reportedly offered a complainant in a rape case $500,000 to drop the case against her uncle who is a doctor.

Allegations before the court are that Spence approached the complainant and asked her to drop the rape case against the doctor. It is reported that she also called the complainant on her cellphone and asked her to drop the charges. Spence had reportedly gone to the police station to give a statement when the complainant pointed her out to the police. She was arrested and charged.
