Security beef-up at courthouse

spanish town

THERE WAS A heavy security presence at the Spanish Town Courthouse yesterday, following Monday's threats by thugs to kill two judges.

Several heavily-armed uniform and plain clothes policemen were seen guarding the court building.

Police were seen doing thorough searches with metal detectors. Previously, there were no metal detectors at the courthouse.

On Monday, proceedings at the courthouse were suspended at noon after men called threatening to kill two of the Resident Magistrates. Yesterday cases were only called up and postponed.
