Members of Coppershot - CONTRIBUTED
TWISTED SPIRITZ, STAGED last Saturday at Curphey Place, Swallowfield Road, could easily be regarded as a contender for one of the 'hypest parties' staged this year.
The vibes in the venue were electrifying all night long and the patrons came out to party. They danced non-stop to music from Coppershot, Chromatic, Impulse, Renaissance and Bloodline.
Shortly before to midnight the crowd outside was as large as that on the inside and the Coppershot crew kept the vibe alive, dropping a few early favourites.
At midnight it was as if a force moved though the area as everyone bundled to get in. Once inside, the place was like a hive, buzzing with excitement.
The patrons got down with the music as well as the over 32 alcoholic mixes that were available from five bars placed strategically around the venue.
The middle segment of the Coppershot stint was dominated by several dance-oriented songs from Elephant Man's catalogue, which included songs like Blasé, Pon Di River and Shankle Dip earning their fair share of forwards.
The dance floor was alive with patrons, the sound of Busy Signal's Step Out sending them haywire. The selector pulled it, dropped an Akon/Alozade Soul Survivor dub they described as being 'authentic' and the crowd went wild again.
When Chromatic took over at 1:10 a.m. the party took a turn. The alcohol, flowed like water over Niagara Falls pushing the vibes to extreme levels. Chromatic immediately had the patrons moving to songs such as Kanye West and Jamie Foxx's Gold Digger. They then eased into Lil Kim's Get Your Lighters Up before dropping Welcome to Norbrook and later the Sizzla/Foxy Brown hit, That's Fine With Me, to good effect.
They dropped 50 Cents' Candy Shop and followed this up with Idonia's Lolly to the delight of the patrons. Chromatic's spin was all uphill from there and they left the turntables to Impulse after executing a flawless set.
Impulse was faced with the task of keeping the vibes flowing, and this they did. They played a pulsating set, despite starting out by cooling the tempo with songs like Sizzla's Praise Ye Jah, There Is No Time to Waste and others.
The traffic at the bar at this time was overwhelming and those tending to the patrons were faced with the overwhelming task of keeping the liquor flowing.
Renaissance replaced Impulse behind the turntables and later Bloodline took over. However, it was Chromatic's set, and to a lesser extent Impulse's stint, that sealed the issue at the party.
Shortly before to 3:00 a.m. persons were still entering the venue and many others had to be assisted out as the alcohol got the better of them. There were also sections of the venue where a strong vomit scent lingered in the air.
And apart from a rather boisterous and untamed gate attendant who some persons had to deal with, the party was great, the patrons exceptionally lively and the musical mix nothing short of awesome.
