Tornadoes dethrone Y-Speedos at Walter Lowi swim meet

FRESH FROM THEIR win at the 'AB' Short Course Swim Meet, the Tornadoes Swim Club dethroned defending champions, the Y-Speedos, to win the Walter Lowi Sprint Meet held at the National Stadium Pool on Saturday, November 12.

Tornadoes finished with 871 points to Y-Speedos 744 in the Age Group Category. Completing the top five teams were Blue Seal - 209.5, Electric Eel - 155.5 and Marlins, 146 points. Three national age group records were broken during the meet. Jason Adams (Tornadoes) set a new national age group record of 29.33 secs. in the boys 11-12 50m butterfly, Dominique Dawson (Tornadoes) in the girls 13-14 50m butterfly - 32.14 secs. and Dominic Lee (Tornadoes) in the boys 15 and over 50m breaststroke of 30.55 secs.

The following were the FINA High Points Awards winners:

8 & Under Girls: Stefani Webley, Royals 50m Free - 352 pts

8 & Under Girls: Antoine Young, Blue Seals 50m Free - 229 pts

9 - 10 Girls: Kendese Nangle, Blue Seals 50m Free - 503 pts

9 - 10 Boys: Xavier Boland, Tornadoes 50m Breast - 299 pts

11 - 12 Girls: Nicole Chin, Tornadoes 50m Back - 462 pts

11- 12 Boys: Jason Adams, Tornadoes 50m Fly - 517 pts

13 - 14 Girls: Lanesa Downs, Y-Speedos 50M Free - 572 pts

13 - 14 Boys: Matthew Hilton, Y-Speedos 100M Breast - 588 pts

15 & Over Girls: Gillian Millwood, Y-Speedos 50m Fly - 532 pts

15 & Over Boys: Dominic Lee, Tornadoes 50m Breast - 730 pts.

In the Masters Category, for swimmers 25 years old and over, the Tornadoes also came out champions with 103 points over Y-Speedos 45 points followed by Electric Eel - 34 and Royal Swim Club 32 points.

The next meetwill be a Development Meet on Saturday, November 26.
