Arnett red hot

By Paul-Andre Walker, Staff Reporter

Irvino English - FILE

WHEN IT RAINS it certainly pours for Arnett Gardens football team.

After playing a full round of Wray and Nephew National Premier League football as one of the most disciplined teams, Arnett Gardens have now received three red cards in two games.

Playing in the End-of-Round Final last week, the 'Junglists' lost that discipline and saw red not once, but twice.

On Sunday, when they faced Waterhouse at the Waterhouse Mini-Stadium, the physical nature of a clash between rivals of the highest nature saw Arnett losing a player once again.

While it was Cornell Chin-Sue and Kevin 'Pele' Wilson last week, this time the fever has affected Jermaine Benjamin.

Benjamin, after miscontrolling a ball, lunged at Irvino English very clumsily and may have seriously hurt the former Waterhouse skipper.

RUSHED TO HOSPITAL

English could take no further part in the proceedings and as a matter of fact, had to be rushed to hospital in obvious anguish.

Question, will the loss of three important midfielders hurt Arnett's intentions to stay among the leaders of the Premiership.

"We still intend to be champions after all of this. You win some and you lose some, but the season is long," said Arnett coach Michael Tulloch.

"Our team is a rounded team. It has depth in terms of youth. If you noticed today (Sunday) they really stepped up and competed well in terms of getting in the team and playing their part. Arnett will be back," he added, warning his opponents to come.

For at least their next two games, Arnett will have to be treading lightly as they can ill-afford to lose any more players, and would very much like to restore the type of discipline that propelled them to second in the league at the end of the first round.
