
ANTHONY MINOTT - Colin Fagan, deputy mayor of Portmore,gives Braeton's wing defence Akelia Henry an award for being the most outstanding wing defence in the Portmore Sport/Youth Clubs Association/Island Grill/TVJ Portmore Intermediate League. Occasion was the awards ceremony for the competition held at the Bridgeport High School on Sunday.RUNNERS-UP BRAETON Netball Club walked away with five sectional prizes in the Portmore Sport/ Youth Clubs Association/Island Grill/TVJ Portmore Intermediate League Awards ceremony inside the Dome, at Bridgeport High School, last Sunday.
Braeton won best goal shoot, Stacey-Ann Allen; best wing attack, Dorette Williams; best wing defence, Akelia Henry, best goal keeper, Andrene Dawkins and best Goal defence, Marsha Reid.
Progressive Strikers Kayon Gordon and Doreen Chambers copped best centre and best goal attack respectively.
Westchester received the championship trophy and a cheque for $27,000 from Erica Hanson, marketing manager of Island Grill, for their efforts.
Westchester's Goal defence, Antonette Smith, was adjudged the most valuable player of the final. The other awards were handed out by Deputy Mayor Colin Fagan.
Meanwhile, Gleaner Writer, Anthony Foster, received a special award for outstanding journalism towards the league and Island Grill was presented with a plaque for their dedicated sponsorship to netball in the Sunshine City.
