Thirty one year-old Fabian McIntosh of a Mountain View address, appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court to answer to charges of assault with intent to rob. It is alleged that on Saturday October 29 at around 11:00 a.m., the complainant, Felicia Thomas boarded a bus destined for downtown, Kingston. She reported seeing McIntosh and another man enter the bus and overheard one telling the other, "si two man a work already, so we naw work da bus ya". They then left the bus.
The court heard that Thomas came off the bus in the vicinity of the Ward Theatre and proceeded to walk through the Sir William Grant Park.
SUSPICIOUS
She became suspicious when she noticed that she was being followed by the two men that she had earlier seen on the bus. Upon exiting the park, she was approached by McIntosh, who she said told her, "my girl, a one ting mi haffi seh to yu, don't move cause if yuh move, mi a go stab you an kill you." It is reported that the second man, who remains unidentified, brandished a knife and held on to Thomas' pocket while trying to take her money. Thomas then fell to the ground and held on to her pocket. She was hit in the face by one of the men before they ran off.
Thomas then made a report to the police who chased and held McIntosh. He was taken to the City Centre Police Station, where Thomas identified him as her assailant.
When he appeared before the court, McIntosh, who pleaded not guilty, was strongly reprimanded by RM Gayle who told him, "the allegations against you are very serious." McIntosh was less than happy and told the judge that "mi need fi explain miself, your honor, all now mi nuh give a proper statement."
He was remanded in custody until November 19, when his case will be tried.
