ISCF Commander in the spotlight

Commander Melbourne Morgan

COMMANDER MELBOURNE MORGAN stationed at Harman Barracks is a loyal, dedicated, easygoing police officer enlisted in the organisation in March of 1977. He completed his training that same year and was posted at Harman Barracks. He did various stints at Kings House, Gordon House and a number of patrol beats in the Corporate Area.

In 1984 he was promoted to the rank of Corporal and five years later he attained the rank of Sergeant. He earned the respect of his peers and superiors alike by his hard work and dedication and in 2002 he was promoted to Inspector. He achieved his present rank earlier this year.

He recently participated in a Junior Command Programme at the Jamaica Constabulary Staff College and was among several persons who graduated with a Certificate in Public Administration from UWI, also at the JCSC. Among his achievements are Legal Administration Course at The Justice Training School, and the Supervisory Management and Public Relations course at the University of the West Indies School of Continuing Studies. He was awarded the Medal of Honour for efficient and dedicated service to the country. This soft-spoken officer, who hails from the parish of St. Elizabeth, is an active member of the Portmore Seventh Day Adventist Church and is the present director of the North Portmore Optimist Club.

In expressing his views on the status of the ISCF he said the transformation and the modernisation of the organisation are going well. In bygone years persons viewed the organisation with cynicism and lack of respect but times have changed and the organisation is looked upon as a great career choice and a force to be reckoned with.

On The Beat is a production of the Constabulary Communication Network. For further information, contact Detective Sergeant Jubert Llewellyn, Corporal Natasha Green or Constable Oneil Patterson.
