Firearm holder charged with possessing illegal ammunition

By Stephanie Elliot, Star Writer

A MAN WHO appeared before the May Pen Resident Magistrate's Court recently, to answer to a charge of illegal possession of ammunition, pleaded not guilty and returns to court on November 10.

He is Derrick Henriques, businessman, of Sewell Crescent, May Pen, Clarendon.

Allegations are that on September 21, 2005, the May Pen police, acting on information that ammunition was being sold at a premises, conducted a search of Henriques' home and 78 rounds of .38 ammunition were found.

He was arrested and charged.

Under the law Mr. Henriques, a licensed firearm holder, is entitled to 50 rounds of ammunition at any one time. Any additional amount is illegal.

The accused is represented by attorney-at-law Dwight Reece.
