A CASUAL LABOURER who has been languishing in jail since May 6 this year, on a murder charge, on Monday had his $500,000 bail reduced to $400,000 in the Montego Bay RM Court.
Dennis Graham of Granville, St. James, was offered bail in September but he was not able to take up the offer, as he had no one who could stand surety for that amount. However, his attorney Dalton Reid's request to have the bail amount reduced, was granted.
The preliminary enquiry, that was also scheduled to begin, could not get under way as only the investigating officer was present. Subpoenas will be served on the other witnesses for them to turn up on November 25 for the enquiry to begin.
The allegations are that on May 6, Graham was washing his employer's car near a supermarket, also owned by his employer, when the deceased, Michelle Campbell, walked by. An argument ensued after she accused him of splashing water on her.
She allegedly left but returned later and the argument continued.
She returned for a third time and went into the supermarket where she took several bottles, which she used to hit him.
It is further alleged that she went back into the supermarket twice and threw several bottles at Graham. On a third occasion however, Graham allegedly used a knife to stab her twice in the side and abdomen.
