16-year-old remanded in connection with murder

BLACK RIVER

A 16-YEAR-old youth has been taken into custody for questioning in connection with the death of Mereter Dawnkins, 63, a pensioner and returning resident of Knoxwood district in St. Elizabeth.

Dawnkins, who lived alone, was seen alive early Wednesday morning. She was later discovered by a relative about 8:30 a.m. lying in a pool of blood in the washroom of her home.

The police was called and upon investigations, it was revealed that her throat had been cut.

The Lacovia Police who are investigating, have not yet established a motive for her death.
