SPANISH TOWN
LAUGHTER ERUPTED IN the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, when a woman, whose boyfriend was accused of assaulting her with a piece of electric cord, told the court it was an act during sexual foreplay for them.
The boyfriend, Steve Wright, appeared before the court on a charge of assault occasioning bodily harm.
The court heard that about 1:00 a.m. last October 11, a neighbour reportedly heard the female crying for help saying; "Lawd God mi can't tek no more, woii, no lick mi so hard." The court heard that the concerned neighbour called the police as it was going on for sometime.
When the police arrived, the court further heard that the complainant told officers that she was beaten by Wright with the cord. The police then laid the charge against Wright.
On Tuesday, a serious looking Wright told the court he was guilty with explanation and went on to explain that what happened was a prelude to their lovemaking. "Your Honour, things got out of hand but that's how we operate before making love. Like biting each other and a little light spanking," he said as some people in the courtroom began laughing.
LAUGHTER
The laughter got louder when the RM enquired of the girlfriend if Wright was speaking the truth and she said 'Yes'.
Amidst the laughter, the woman explained that she had not called the police but it was while she was making her 'sounds of ecstasy' that the neighbours may have overheard her and called them.
She told the court she did not wish to pursue the matter and as a result, the RM made a no order against Wright. The couple left the courtroom together.
