MORE THAN A year after hurricane Ivan destroyed different sections of the island's roads, Dorothy Davy is still living in danger in Zinc Shop, Clarendon.
Following Ivan's passage, Davy's retaining wall was washed away and a section of her yard became a waterfall with water running off the mountain into her yard and through her property.
Months after a story was first published in THE STAR, work had started to repair the piece of road, which had been reduced to single lane traffic. However the work has since stopped and now with each shower of rain, the problem gets worse.
HURRICANE SEASON
"The yard look worse now. Mi need them to come fix the road," Davy said.
She adds that since the start of this hurricane season, the problem has worsened with more showers of rain causing more landslides in her yard.
Davy says she saw some men come and start work on the roadway, however this stopped several months ago and they have not returned. Efforts by THE STAR to find out from the Clarendon Parish Council what will happen with the road were unsuccessful.
