SEVEN-YEAR-OLD Zideane Linton, one of the three persons killed at a football match last month was laid to rest on Sunday.
The packed Ewarton community Church of God could not contain the crowd that braved the inclement weather to pay their last respects to the infant.
In his remembrance speech, Zideane's uncle, Winston Moffatt, lauded his nephew. "He could have been anything he wanted to be as he was so well behaved and have good qualities to take him forward. However all that was cut short". His mother, Keisha Moffatt was stricken with grief and her only words were "wi want Zideane, mi want Zideane," as relatives consoled her.
TRIBUTES
Other tributes came from Juici Patties and Ewarton Primary and also the Polly Ground Primary School of which Zideane was a student. It was an emotional afternoon as many tears flowed.
In his sermon Reverend Neville Montique told the congregation that these are perilous times when the heart of man has become wicked and he kills without reservation. He said the congregation can make a change by praying, as only through prayer will change come.
At the end of the service, the coffin was lifted by pall bearers and taken to the nearby Ewarton Cemetery. The mourners were accompanied to the cemetery by a marching band.
Another of the victims, Maurice Ogilvie was also buried there earlier that day.
