LONDON, ENGLAND, CMC
JAMAICA-BORN JANET Coulbourne has been recalled to the England netball squad for their three-match series against South Africa next month.
England's netball selectors named a squad of 14 players on Monday to travel to South Africa and the list includes Coulbourne and former England vice-captain Amanda Newton.
The 32-year-old Coulbourne, who was on Jamaica's 1997 squad before migrating to London, is back after a two-year break from the international game due to work commitments, and Newton returns after recovering from a long term injury.
Also included in the squad are Louisa Brownfield, Pamela Cookey and Geva Mentor, who helped England win the silver medal at the World Youth Championships (WYC) in Florida in July.
As part of their preparation for the Commonwealth Games next year in Australia where they will face Caribbean side St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) among their first round opponents, England will face South Africa in a three match test series from November 23-30 in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth.
England will contest Group B of the March 17-26 Commonwealth Games first round in Melbourne with SVG, current world champions New Zealand, South Africa, Malawi, and Fiji.
Group A will feature the reigning gold medallists Australia, Caribbean teams Jamaica and Barbados, Samoa, Wales and Singapore.
