DEAR PASTOR,
I am replying to that 17-year-old girl who lied to her boyfriend about her social class. As you said she should meet him in a public place and tell him the truth. I know how she feels because I am 17 as well and moved from Jamaica to England. I am from a working class background and you sometimes wonder why you were not born into an upper class family.
However, this girl should hold her head up high, because social mobility is possible, and if he loves her he will not be affected by her background, because he is meant to be in love with her and he will appreciate the fact that she was not passive with her situation, but rather working hard trying to make a difference for her and her family.
Keep up the excellent work.

Dear Y. C.,
People should not lie about their background. They are not responsible for where they were born, but they are responsible for how they live. They should not lie about their profession either or be ashamed of what type of work their parents do.
