Handgun found on minibus

BY ARTHUR GREEN, Star Writer

ST. THOMAS

A HANDGUN WITH six live rounds of ammunition were recovered from a minibus in Morant Bay, St. Thomas recently.

The police reportedly found the illegal firearm in a public passenger vehicle transporting commuters in the parish capital. The Smith and Western revolver, with serial number erased, was taken from under a seat of the mini bus .

No one has been linked to the find, but the police said that they were satisfied that yet another illegal gun was off the nation's streets, as it being there could represent an untold amount of injury and possible death.

A statement from the police also expresses concern as to what they describe as the growing number of criminal activities taking place in the parish and again warn those who they say are thinking of any transfer or importation of such activity to desist, because they will find that the area is not going to allow them to flourish .

In reinforcing their position in the statement, the local cops said 'we will be ready for you' .
