Bank teller on larceny charge

A BANK TELLER accused of stealing $1.4 million from a Ministry of Education bank account is now facing the court for larceny.

Errol Watts, 30, appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday where he was granted $500,000 bail with one, two or three sureties.

A stop order was also issued and he was ordered to surrender all his travel documents.

It is alleged that between December 1, 2004 and May 31, 2005, Watts made several unauthorised withdrawals amount-ing to $1,431,027.98 from a Ministry of Education, Youth and Culture (MOEYC) account while he was employed at the Red Hills branch of the National Com-mercial Bank as a teller.

Following investigations, on October 1 of this year, Watts was arrested at his home in Claremont Gardens, Spanish Town and interviewed in the presence of his attorney. He was charged with 40 counts of larceny. Watts is to return to court on November 18.
