A NEW BATTLE is looming in the dancehall. Twin of Twins and Monster Twins are at odds as they battle for the supremacy of being called the 'twins of the dancehall'.
The Monster Twins (Greg Campbell and Kevin Miller) contend that they are the original twins of the dancehall.
"A dat wi seh to dem an dem vex yuh nuh" said Kevin about his contention with the Twin of Twins. "Wi seh we Monster Twins are the Twins of the dancehall. We a di fus twins, Monster Twins a di fus twins fi deh bout an wi tek di dancehall from a longer time. Ova six years now since wi tune drop a road, called Gyal on the Juice Rhythm pon Shams label," Kevin explained.
However, Twin Of Twins, Paul and Patrick Gaynor, say they are the real twins and are not really concerned about who came first. They say it is a no-contest situation where the Monster Twins are concerned.
NO CAREER
"Dem a nuh twins, they were the second part of the Monster Shack Crew, they are no twins, dem tell themselves a lie an believe it ... dem nuh have no career," Patrick Gaynor declared. "But yuh caan be twin an nuh even have di same last name, an twin haffi have di ability fi switch up di ting an fool girl," he further pointed out.
According to the Monster Twins, the animosity started at the recently held Teen Fest back-to-school concert at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre, when both dancehall acts appeared on the same show.
"Tru wi seh a we a di twins of the dancehall a Teens Fest like dem get upset and tek offence to it. When we come off a di stage dem call wi up back an a seh wi can't be twins unless wi have di same surname an can clap di same gyal," Greg of the Monster Twins recalled.
However, Twin of Twins say they don't need a long term clash, as they have their own thing doing career-wise already.
"Dem upset mi man ... but mi nah guh get drawn out by them ... no Bounty and Beenie ting round here. Dem fi work hard an walk inna di sun, studio to studio like twin of twins and maybe they can become twins. We are declaring that we are Twin of all Twins, because we are the conquering lion of the tribe of Chisholm and Maxfield Avenue Kingston 13 straight," Patrick Gaynor said.
Both 'Twins' are scheduled to appear at a show scheduled for the Asylum nightclub and already the battle lines are drawn.
"A ting fi happen wid we an dem at Asylum, 24th of October, at Scratchy B's Cash Money Mondays," Greg of Monster Twins said, while adding that they have already put together a few tunes for the Twin of Twins.
"We have some tune fi dem put down already, suh if dem ready fi di war musically, wi ready fi it, 'cause wi have some ting pon CD already a give it to dem," Greg added.
After this showdown, Kevin of Monster Twins says he hopes that the Twin of Twins will get the picture.
"Yea man wi jus want dem get it straight inna dem head seh Monster Twins a di real twins of the dancehall, no blue steal ting," Kevin said.
Twin of Twins also say that they will not back from any challenge and have started to prepare a battle plan.
"Jus cause dem do dat, mi a guh do a song fi show dem seh wi have di ability fi do it, but wi nah guh follow it up, wi nah guh give dem no career roun' here," Patrick Gaynor said.
