TRAINER PAUL FUNG'S SHOW N' TELL looks set to pull off another giant-killing act in tomorrow afternoon's 1600-metre 11th race.
The four-year-old colt caused jaws to drop a month ago when sweeping past speedy three-year-old KAMIR , while under a hand ride, to score a fast-time win at 1400 metres.
Returning at a mile, SHOW N' TELL comes in with topweight 57.0 kilos for a rematch against the three-year-olds KAMIR and AD INFINITUM, who found the pace too hot last time out and had to settle for third.
SHOW N' TELL hasn't raced since his big win but KAMIR was at the races a week ago and was badly burnt on the lead by back-to-form American-bred colt ZICKWARTY.
Beaten for speed from start to finish, KAMIR finished near last after being eased by champion jockey Trevor Simpson a furlong-and-a-half out due to interference from CHOSEN ONE going after the leader.
AD INFINITUM, who did his best running inside the final furlong when beaten into third by SHOW N' TELL, has since been taken to task at exercise by trainer Anthony Nunes. The bay gelding zipped five-and-a-half furlongs in 1:05.3 Sunday morning and will appreciate the added furlong.
However, the race again looks tailor-made for SHOW N' TELL, whose strong stretch kick will prove hard to withstand with at least five horses going gung-ho for the lead.
In addition, Fung has smartly slipped in speedy NATURAL PRINCE in the event to ensure KAMIR, CHOSEN ONE, RUN PAPA RUN are kept dead honest on the lead, setting it up for Paul Francis to produce SHOW N' TELL inside the final furlong.
Jackpots at $1.6m
NAVIGATOR at 7-1 in the seventh race and 5-1 shot MOTHER OF PEARL in the 10th stumped all Pick-9 bettors, sending a $1,041,600 carryover to tomorrow's programme. However, the cheaper Super-Six was nailed, yielding six winning tickets each worth $467,243.50.
The Super-Six will start at its guaranteed $500,000 in addition to a Hi-Five carryover of $133,087.50 to the fourth race.
Pick-9 bettors should have no problems in the first three races where QUIZAS ORO, SWING BY and A KING IS BORN are five-star bankers.
QUIZAS ORO should get the better of fit MICHAEL POWER in the third race at 1820 metres and the two-year-old debutant SWING BY, a filly, has been working like an American-bred colt in the mornings, keeping pace with DEARDREAMER at exercise.
Track Price Plus Pick-6 players hunting a 2-1 shot should look no further than PADDY'S STORM in the sixth at 1000 metres straight. The three-year-old filly is down in class after working sweetly with ESTOY LISTO two Sundays ago, clocking 1:08.3 for five-and-half furlongs.
Champion jockey Trevor Simpson's fans should open the card with JACK EM UP at 1200 metres. the five-year-old gelding ran a cracker up in class last time out, chasing MAGIC DRAGON to the final furlong before ROSE BUD flew the final half-furlong.
