THE WEST INDIES training camp for the Australia tour is set to go ahead after 29 of the 30 players requested to make themselves available, signed their letters of invitation.
The West Indies Cricket Board said yesterday that all the players signed with in the stated deadline of September 19.
Jamaican fast bowler Jerome Taylor, the only person player not to sign, was not required to do so, having been ruled out due to the incompletion of rehabilitative work on his action.
The WICB selectors have subsequently made a short list of 24 players to attend the training camp at the Three Ws Oval, University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus.
Batting star Brian Lara and aggressive opener Chris Gayle will miss the training camp as both will be participating in the International Cricket Council's Johnnie Walker Super Series between the World XI and Australia.
Lara has been selected for both the one-day and Test squads while Gayle will play in the one-day fixture.
Fast bowler Jermaine Lawson will also miss the camp as he is still recovering from minor ankle surgery while fellow pacer Dwight Washington and opening batter Xavier Marshall have been left out from the original 30.
Players are expected to assemble starting tomorrow for the camp, which will consist of two days of training sessions followed by a four-day game from September 27-30.
West Indies are preparing for a three-Test tour of Australia which runs from October 27 to December 2.
