CORDELL 'SCATTA' BURRELl has reduced his Gang Bang crew to only two artistes after expelling three of the crew's members.
Dropped from the crew are Einstein, Problem Child and Platinum Kid, while Hollow Point and Idonia remain with the producer.
"Well, basically still, it takes a lot to be handling five different careers at once and in order fi get di real result sometimes yuh haffi cut back. Everybody want dem ting fi happen one time, but me, as the person spending the money and taking the criticisms, yuh haffi mek decisions weh you think is wise. If me nuh si a artiste a move like a real business, me caan invest nuh further pon him," Scatta said.
The producer also believes that the two acts that he has chosen to keep have proven to have the complete package.
"Yuh haffi have gratitude wid attitude suh when restructuring tek place, you nuh find yourself in that situation. Is a decision that I mek on my part and based on my decision I have to stand by it and mek it work. People on the outside will think it's preference, but that's how negative people think. If a individual come mek certain changes, dem need fi look an si a wa da individual yah come wid fi cause these changes, yuh haffi have attitude and character," Scatta explained.
He said that Idonia, who joined the crew only four months ago, has shown real promise.
"If yuh check di response fi his career, I was more motivated to do more because of the attitude and gratitude, is not talent alone, cause each of dem have dem individual talent. Me have a reputation to protect cause me nuh reach weh me a guh yet, suh me a do di tings weh me learn ... knowledge is important."
Disrespect
But while the producer simply points to restructuring of the label as the main reason, the expelled artistes say it is a case of preference for specific persons.
Einstein told THE STAR he wants to make it clear that it was nothing that he did wrong. "... Is just preference, di big man prefer certain artistes weh jus come inna di camp, which is stupid, not because yuh rate him yuh mus mek di other artistes dem feel a way. Wah dem do wrong, cause dem mek di res a artiste dem feel like seh dem a nuh nobody. Dat a disrespect to we," Einstein said.
"Dem fi know seh a we start dis. Hollow Point deh inna di camp an mek it strong, me an Problem Child join, shoot wi video an start seh Gang Bang, Platinum Kid start do him ting, till di whole a wi a seh Gang Bang an spread a vibes."
Einstein says, however, that he has no hard feelings towards Scatta and he is willing to work with him in the future.
Problem Child is also quite upset about the change. "Wi nuh like wah a gwaan, odda artiste come inna di camp an fight wi out an wi nuh feel good bout it, but wi still a do wi ting. Mi deh inna di studio a do some recording yah now, an mi hope fi drop a new video by November," he said.
