A TRIAL DATE was set in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday for a 40-year-old father, from Granville, St. James, who reportedly tried to rape his 11-year-old daughter earlier this year.
The accused, who was without legal representation, is to stand trial on October 6, when the complainant is expected to take the witness stand.
TRIED TO HAVE SEX
Allegations outlined in court, are that on June 12, this year, the accused reportedly cornered his daughter, who was living with him, and tried to have sexual intercourse with her. However, the defiant youngster managed to break free and escaped from the house.
SIMILAR EXPERIENCE
The matter was reported to the police and the father arrested and charged. The complainant is reportedly living with an older sister, who ran away from their father's house after she reportedly had a similar experience.
In refusing the father's pleas for bail, RM Winsome Henry said the child is still living in the same area and she feared he could cause problems for her.
