NEITHER THE TORRENTIAL downpour, nor a formidable lightning display could deter party goers from S.Q.U.I.S.H., held at Morgan's Harbour on Sunday. In fact, Mother Nature's showers actually assisted in the party's festivities, and solidified the meaning of the title, 'Sea Quest to Uncover the Inspired, Sophisticated, & High-spirited!'
Those who weren't attired in soaking cloth, threw caution and excess clothing to the wind, literally dancing up a storm in the Sunday evening thunderstorm. Though the event was soca-oriented, selectors did not stick to the format, playing popular genres of hip hop, and dancehall, much to the delight of party patrons.
Held by the BOOM network in collaboration with 'Tribe,' a Trinidadian carnival costume company, the high-class event was also attended by prominent members of society, including C.E.O. and Chairman of Dehring Bunting and Golding, Peter Bunting, and the newly-appointed C.E.O. of Cable & Wireless, Rodney Davis.
"We're not looking for large turnouts at the events, but to lure a core group of what I refer to as the 'innovators' of society," stated the head of BOOM network, André Bello.
The self-titled 'Chief Innovative Officer', said that the sponsors are given the opportunity to expose their products to the select but crucial market of influential individuals that would be more likely to become clients of the company of the respective product.
Quality musical
Sponsors of the event included Mercedes Benz, Starfish Oils, Scotiabank, Swiss Stores, Fiesta Car Rentals, and Appleton V/X. Giveaways were distributed to patrons that night, including a weekend at Sunset Grande by Fiesta car rentals, numerous jewellery giveaways by Swiss Stores, and a gift package for all patrons.
The event itself was immaculately catered for by Morgan's Harbour chefs, with a repertoire of dishes, including jerk chicken, jerk pork, curried mutton and roti. With an endless supply of liquor from two over-stocked bars, topped with quality musical selections from Renaissance and Arif Cooper, all patrons were evidently dripping with satisfaction.
At around 9:00 p.m., in the midst of a soca musical stint, a drove of carnival-costumed dancers invaded the party. The group representing 'Tribe,' did an excellent job of adding flare to an already energetic party, dancing and mingling with patrons.
