A HIGGLER ACCUSED of tying his wife's hands and feet and beating her, will have his case of attempted murder continued in the Spanish Town RM Court on October 21.
The court was told that on September 10, 2004, the complainant took her two children to Glenville Robinson's house in Spanish Town, St. Catherine. The court heard that while there, she was held, her hands were tied behind her and a piece of cable was used to beat her severely on her head and buttocks. She was allegedly beaten so badly that she could not sit for days.
It was also heard that her hair was completely cut off and on at least three occasions, a bucket of water was used to try to drown her.
The complainant explained to the court that she was treated as a prisoner, as her husband would lock her up in the house and only he and a son could gain access.
She told RM Lorna Errar Gayle that on September 13 last year, she managed to escape from the house after Robinson left to sell on the streets and his son came by. She ran to her sister. She added that after the beating, clots of blood came from her nostrils and mouth and that she still has constant headaches. She said it was not the first that she had been beaten by her husband.
The case was put off and RM Gayle advised Mr. Robinson that on the next court date he should ensure that his attorney is present.
